Associate Attorney
The Wilkie Law Group is excited to offer an associate attorney position. We are passionate about defending our clients’ rights, and it starts with finding the best lawyer to defend them. We have built a reputation as an aggressive defense firm and are looking for a lawyer who wants to join the fight. You will work with the lead attorney to develop strategies for larger more complex cases as well as represent your own clients in legal proceedings in multiple courts and jurisdictions. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Represent/appear with and on behalf of clients in legal proceedings such as hearings, continuances, and trials in State Criminal court (District initially and Superior later), some District Civil court (DVPO & DSS), and possibly Military Court.
- Prepare legal documents such as pleadings and motions and perform research on legal matters related to specific cases in a timely and accurate manner.
- Meet with and advise clients in person and virtually to discuss their case, render advice on the best behavior and practices relating to confidentiality while being the subject of investigation or facing pending criminal charges.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and staff.
- Adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and meet multiple and competing deadlines.
- Strategic thinker who can prioritize and integrate short-term and long-term goals.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must be a member in good standing of the North Carolina State Bar; OR
- JD degree from an accredited law school and awaiting the results of the NC State Bar exam.
- Reliably commute or plan to relocate to Jacksonville, NC before starting work (required).
- Previous experience at a law firm, or with military law (preferred but not required).
License/Certification:
- NC Bar License (Required)
